Fixture clash resolved so supporters can attend both hurling and LGFA finals in Clare

The senior county ladies’ football final was scheduled to take place at the same time as the county senior hurling final.

LAST UPDATE | 30 Sep

A FIXTURE CLASH for upcoming county finals in Clare has been addressed by the GAA and LGFA in the county.

On Sunday 11 October, the senior ladies football final between Kilmurry Ibrickane and Fergus Rovers was scheduled to take place at 3.30pm in Cooraclare. The county senior hurling final was to commence at the same time in Cusack Park as Inagh-Kilnamona take on their neighbours Kilmaley.

Clare GAA put out a statement last night to say they and Clare LGFA had met yesterday to discuss the overlap in games.

As a result, the intermediate ladies football final between Cooraclare and Doonbeg will now take place at Captain Tubridy Memorial Park, Kilrush at 12pm.

The senior ladies football final, Fergus Rovers v Kilmurry Ibrickane, will take place at St Michael’s Park, Kilmihil at 2pm.

The TUS Senior hurling ginal of Inagh-Kilnamona against Kilmaley will take place at Cusack Park at 4:15pm.

“Both executives recognise the significance of these upcoming flagship fixtures and met in a spirit of partnership keeping our players, members and supporters at the very heart of all discussions,” the statement read.

There are crossovers between all the teams including Clare ladies footballer Louise Griffin who will be in action for Fergus Rovers. Her husband, and Clare 2024 All-Ireland winner, Conor Cleary will be playing with Kilmaley in the hurling final.

Aidan McCarthy, who will be lining out for Inagh-Kilnamona, represents another link. The All-Ireland winner has previously played football for the Kilmurry Ibrickane club along with his brother Jason.
